Half Life
It is a beautiful thing to listen to a song that not only captures the appreciation of a music lover but also of one that appreciates spoken words and literature. This is sometimes rare to find in music: a song that accentuates experiences or feelings that are essentially impossible to label otherwise.
I like Imogen Heap‘s Half Life (2009) because of the way its lyrics, music, and ambiance expresses a situation that is all too familiar but often difficult to describe. It is one of those songs that feels like reading a diary. A friend sent it to me a few months ago calling me “a case in point” of the lyrics. However, I think we all are in some way.
It’s entitled Half Life, and I think it’s a good listen.
